Tricks and tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Find your perfect rental:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your rental search:
- First and foremost, have your family agree to trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Perfect Vacation walk to the beach (8) has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property owner before reserving the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your family is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- During check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
