Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips and tricks:
Sticking to a budget:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. To book the most suitable rental within your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to pick the perfect vacation rental:
- Start by selecting your trip dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. 5th-floor studio with pool, hot tub, & AC has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach attraction you are crazy about, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
During your stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many problems.
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if there is a dispute.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to compel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
