Rental home tips:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To find the best value, consider changing your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Owners sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting the perfect rental:
- Choose your vacation week and budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. 6th Floor Oceans One - Ocean Front Unit! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before booking the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what is best for your group.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
- If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
