Tricks and tips to get the very best vacation property experience:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, change your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, , and reduced traffic.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your contract.
More tips for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- During arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a excellent vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
