Myrtle Beach rental home tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides that include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing the best rental home:
- Choose a group leader, select your trip dates, and select a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Adorable Beach Home in Award Winning Ocean Lakes! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If not, call the property management company before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach attraction you long to visit, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- During arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
