Tricks and tips for getting the best vacation property experience:
How to get the best value:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
- Some owners offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by choosing potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Amazing Direct Modern 2nd Floor Oceanfront w Fireplace has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before booking the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what is right for your family.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
During your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
- To make certain that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the rental manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
