Strategies to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Finding your perfect rental:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose the perfect vacation rental:
- Select your vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Ninth Floor Oceanfront Studio with AC, Shared Pool\/Hot Tub - Snowbird Friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
- Does your family require special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
More considerations:
- Add the host's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- During arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to compel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
