Rental home booking tips and tricks:
Finding the best value:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Narrow your Search:
- Choose vacation week and maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Bay View 1011, City View, 4ppl has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the host before booking the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
Have a great stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the host immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a excellent vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
