Tips for getting the perfect rental experience:
Get the best value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides that include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and picking a perfectrental home:
- Start by choosing your trip dates and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Amazing Views from 5th Floor! Sleeps 8 has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before reserving the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
- Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your visit, record any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the rental manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to stimulate future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
