Strategies to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Narrow your Search:
- Start by choosing a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Amazing views of ocean from the 3rd Floor !! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you reserve the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your vacation.
- Does your group require special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- To make sure damages aren't attributed to your stay, record any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the host right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to propel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
