Tips and Tricks to get the best rental home experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- Book your rental home in Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have discounts for local tours and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking the best Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Spring & Summers weeks left- golf cart, linens, dog-friendly! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. If not, call the property management company before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your trip.
- Looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Contact the property manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to drive future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
