Our top Rental home booking tips:
When to book & When to go:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To book the largest vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have deals for local accommodations and attractions.
How to select the perfect rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Choose dates and budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Great location in the Heart of Carolina Forest has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property manager before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
During your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- To make certain damages are not linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the property manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to drive more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
