Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation home experience:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the best value, try shifting your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain discounts for local shops and restaurants.
Narrow your Search:
- Start by choosing vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration you need. AWESOME OCEANFRONT CORNER UNIT-5th FL-A501-BOOK NOW FOR SUMMER 2025-GREAT RATES! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to inspire new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
