Tips to get the very best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Get the best rental value:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, try shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to pick the perfect vacation home:
- Start by choosing trip dates and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Low Floor, Studio, Ocean View, Nice, Heated Pools! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you book the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- During arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
