Myrtle Beach vacation rental home tips and tricks:
Get the most from your budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To book the largest rental within budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Myrtle Beach restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.
How to choose the perfect vacation rental:
- To start, have your family decide on a vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Beach Colony Resort listed on Forbes best hotels in Myrtle Beach! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach attraction you love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- To make certain damages aren't linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the host right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a excellent stay? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
