Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.
How to select the perfect vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Begin by selecting your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Dolphin Cove: 2 BR Oceanfront Condo with Pool has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you book the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what is right for your group.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Upon arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
