Rental home booking tips and tricks:
Finding the best value:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, try changing your family's Myrtle Beach trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and choose the best Myrtle Beach rental:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Dolphin Cove: 2 BR Oceanfront Condo with Pool has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you book the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges applied to your invoice.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
Know before you go:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- Document any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to propel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
