Tips and Tricks to get the very best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides that include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Make a plan and choose the rightrental:
- Choose dates and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Dolphin Cove: 2 BR Oceanfront Condo with Pool has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before booking the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges may be applied to your contract.
Have a great stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to compel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
