Booking the best vacation home experience:

When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to reserve a rental home:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, try shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Make a plan and pick the right Myrtle Beach rental home:

  • Start by choosing the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Beach Haven, Only 5-Star Reviews, 1st Floor Condo! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the host before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.

Tips for a fantastic stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a great time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
