Our top Myrtle Beach rental booking tips:

When to book & When to go:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Book your rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have deals for local shops and restaurants.

How to select the perfect rental in Myrtle Beach:

  • Choose dates and budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Beach Lover's Dream 3BR Condo with Ocean View has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property management company before booking the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you are crazy about, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.

More considerations:

  • Add the property manager's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • To make certain damages aren't linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the rental manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to drive more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
