Tips and Tricks to get the optimal rental home experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking the best Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Choose your dates and max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Beach Lover's Dream 3BR Condo with Ocean View has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before booking the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your family.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
More tips for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
- Upon arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
