How to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have offers and deals for local tours and attractions.
How to select the best rental:
- Select your dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Beachfront Elegance 10th Floor Getaway 3BR Condo has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you book the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach beach you are crazy about, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
Have a wonderful stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many problems.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- Record any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
