Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to book:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. To find the best rental home within budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Myrtle Beach attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have deals for local tours and attractions.
How to select the best vacation rental:
- Begin by selecting trip dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Beautiful!!!! 2 king bed-2 bath-End of August Special! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. If they are not listed, email the host before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
- Does your group require special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to stimulate future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
