How to get the best rental experience:
Finding your best deal:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Book your rental home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and choosing yourvacation home:
- First and foremost, have your group decide on date ranges and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. 14th-floor ocean-view studio with pool, hot tub, AC & WiFi - dog-friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before booking the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach beach you are crazy about, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
