Our top Rental home tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides that include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose and book your Myrtle Beach rental home:

- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available online. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or could be applied to your contract.
Know before you go:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Upon arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of problems.
- Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
