Tricks and tips to get the very best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your Myrtle Beach vacation in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Choosing the perfect vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Choose a group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Beautiful Ocean View King Suite w\/ Balcony + Onsite Pool has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If not, email or call the property management company before you book the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- During check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
