Vacation rental home tips:
Finding your best deal:
- To find the best value, try shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Some hosts offer special rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain discounts for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Make a plan and choose your prefect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Choose your vacation dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Beautifully decorated condo in a quiet Community. Has elevator and pool! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available online. If not, email or call the property management company before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your visit, make note of any problem areas during check in. E-mail the host right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
- Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
