Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the most suitable rental home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Myrtle Beach attractions and restaurants.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting the best vacation rental in Myrtle Beach:

  • Choose vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Enchanting Seaside Oceanfront Suite 6th Floor has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the host before you book the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to drive more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
