Strategies to get the perfect vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Booking in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking the perfectvacation home:
- To start, have your family choose dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Best View in the Resort!, AAA Four Diamond Resort, by Luxury Beach Rentals has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach beach you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the host immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
