Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To find the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting the perfect rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- First, have your group decide on dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Pond view beautiful apartment at Magnolia Place has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, call the host before booking the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make certain that no damages are linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Call the rental manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
