Our top Vacation rental tips and tricks:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- Book your Myrtle Beach vacation in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

- Select dates and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Bluewater Resort 307AB has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. Otherwise, call the property manager before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.

- Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to drive future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation home. Please be objective.
