Finding the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- To find the best value, try changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Planning and picking your prefectrental:
- To start, have your family agree to a vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Elegant & Spacious 3BR\/3BA w\/ Beautiful Ocean Views & Large Gourmet Kitchen! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. If not, email or call the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Know before you go:
- Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many problems.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
