Strategies for getting the perfect vacation home experience:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the largest vacation home within your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guides contain coupons for local shops and restaurants.

Selecting the best rental home:

  • First and foremost, have your family commit to date ranges and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Bluewater Resort V408A has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation.
  • If there's a particular Myrtle Beach destination you love, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to stimulate future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
