Strategies to get the perfect rental home experience:
Finding the best value:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Reserve your rental home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select vacation week and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. $125\/night except holidays for JANUARY AND FEBRUARY! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you reserve your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out which bed configuration is right for your group.
- If your group is traveling with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To make sure damages are not linked to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the host right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to drive new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
