Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, try changing your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking your prefectrental:
- Select your vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Charming OceanView 3BR Condo 6th Floor has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach attraction you are enamored with, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- To make sure damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the property manager right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to stimulate future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
