How to find the best rental home experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by choosing vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Carolina Grande Resort - 3BR Suite w\/ Balcony has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before booking your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
