Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach rental experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. Book your rental home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Ocean Views! Brand New 2024! Walk to the Beach! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges applied to your contract.
More considerations:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- During check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
