Tips to get the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Get the best rental home value:
- Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, consider shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select vacation dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Club Wyndham Sea Watch Plantation, South Carolina, 2 Bedroom Condo has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the host before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what is suitable for your family.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
Additional considerations:
- We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
