Our top Vacation rental booking tips:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your Myrtle Beach rental property in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- First, have your family agree to trip dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Marriott Ocean Watch Oceanside 2 Bdrm 2 Bath Villa(May 11-May 16) 6 nights has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property owner before booking the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out which bed configuration is right for your group.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you crave, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- During check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to propel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
