Tricks and tips to get the best vacation property experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the largest vacation home within budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Planning and picking a perfect Myrtle Beach rental:
- To start, have your family agree to a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Coastal Bliss Ocean View 2BR Condo on 3rd Floor has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a excellent vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
