Tips and Tricks to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:

When to book a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:

  • Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Make a plan and choose the right Myrtle Beach rental home:

  • Choose your vacation week and max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Coastal condo with on-site golf, pool, hot tub, tennis, & balcony - near beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you book the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your contract.

Have a great stay:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To make sure damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great time? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
