How to find the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, consider changing your family's Myrtle Beach trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.
How to choose the best vacation rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Coastal Escape: 1BR King Suite @ Wyndham Seawatch has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the host before you book the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is optimal for your family.
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach beach you simply love, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of problems.
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
