Tips and Tricks to get the perfect rental experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Planning and choosing your Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Start by choosing a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Coastal Escape: 2BR King Suite @ Wyndham Seawatch has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you book the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Advice for your stay:
- Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas upon check in. text the property manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to inspire more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
