Tricks and tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Oceanside - Marriott's OceanWatch Villas - Upscale Resort Villa On The Beach! Spacious! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you book the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is best for your family.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges applied to your contract.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
- At Check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
