Tricks and tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the best value, consider shifting your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides that include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to pick the best rental:

  • Begin by selecting the best vacation week and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Coastal Escape: 2BR King Suite @ Wyndham Seawatch has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

Tips for a fantastic stay:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
  • During arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
