Tricks and tips to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your Myrtle Beach vacation home in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Make a plan and choose your Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- First and foremost, have your family select date ranges and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. New! 3BR Oceanfront w\/ Indoor Waterparks has 3 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible online. Otherwise, contact the property manager before reserving your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
