Tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and picking the perfectrental:
- Begin by selecting the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. The excitement and tranquility of the coast has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking pages. If not, email or call the property owner before you reserve the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach attraction you love, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
Tips for your stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to stimulate future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
