Our top Myrtle Beach rental booking tips:
Money saving strategies:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your Search:
- To start, have your group commit to dates and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. The excitement and tranquility of the coast has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before booking the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what is best for your vacation group.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
During your stay:
- Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
- To make certain that no damages are linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the host immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to stimulate future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
