Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips and tricks:
Finding the best rental value:
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To book the largest vacation home within budget, we suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Finding the best rental:
- Begin by choosing your trip dates and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Convenient home in beachfront complex with pool & hot tub - dog-friendly has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before reserving the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is best for your family.
- Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many issues.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent source for finding the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to stimulate new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
