Tips to get the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Make a plan and choose the perfectrental:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Beach Bum Special Suite with Views 7th Floor has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. If not, email or call the property management company before you book your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's a specific Myrtle Beach destination you are enamored with, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.

Tips for your stay:

  • Put the owner's information in your smartphone.
  • To make sure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. text the host right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your life at home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
