Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation property experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- To find the best value, consider changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
How to pick the best vacation home in Myrtle Beach:
- Start by choosing your a vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Cozy 1 BR Oceanfront has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before you book your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or charges applied to your contract.
- Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Some things to know before you go:
- We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas upon check in. Call the host immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
