Tricks and tips to get the best vacation property experience:
Getting the best value:
- Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Cozy 1 BR Oceanfront has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. If they are not listed, email or call the host before reserving your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your family.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you are crazy about, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or may be applied to your contract.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Contact the property manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Be respectful. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to inspire future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
