Tricks and tips to get the optimal Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Sticking to a budget:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. To book the most suitable rental home within your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have deals for local tours and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking the rightrental home:
- Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Delightful Harbour Lights, 2 Bedroom Villa has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you reserve the home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your family.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you are crazy about, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
