How to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Reserve your rental home in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting the best rental home:
- Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Monterey Bay - Direct Oceanfront, Newly Renovated! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the host before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach destination you crave, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- At Check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a great stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
