Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. Reserve your rental home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First, have your family select vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Dog friendly home near beach & golf, Pool\/Hot tub has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before reserving the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Advice for a great stay:
- Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- At Check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to compel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
