Tricks and tips for getting the best vacation home experience:
When to book a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, try changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by choosing your the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Dog friendly home near beach & golf, Pool\/Hot tub has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you book the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
- Visiting for a single event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
Advice for a great stay:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of problems.
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- To make certain no damages are linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the rental manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected everything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a great vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
