Strategies to get the best rental home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, consider shifting your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Make a plan and pick the right Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Eccentric 2 Bedroom Condo with Stunning Ocean Views! La Mirage 403 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before booking the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what is best for your vacation.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peace. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to propel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
